"Phoenix"

140 x 120 cm
Acrylics on 3D canvas
"Phoenix" is a painting that is part of the "Epiphany" striped painting collection. In this collection Montana uses handpainted background sketches to tell a story about the artwork itself. With "Phoenix" Montana was inspired by the painting of Botticelli "birth of Venus".  The idea of this painting where one gets to be REBORN is what Montana took away from that iconic painting and decided to bring this in her own modern version. The idea of "Rising from the ashes" as a Phoenix, came to mind and just like Montana her own stripes story derives from reinventing herself at one of her lowest points in her life, this is a concept very close to her heart. All the handpainted background sketches in this painting tell the story of growing into ones best self and unpopping their true self. Phoenix is a painting that stands for strenght, rebirth, self confidence and power.

The painting is a one-of-a-kind, hand painted stripes painting by Montana Engels.
Special about the technique is that Montana invented this way of painting and that when looking at it up close it looks abstract while the further you move away from the painting, the MORE detailed it gets.
